Couple testing is a make-or-break affair

FRANCISTOWN: Couple testing, as promoted by Tebelopele Voluntary Counselling Centre, is an initiative that some people blame for the failure of their relationships.

Although many couples have resorted to testing together, only those who get negative results stay together ,while most people with varying results have fights and end their relationships.  Tebelopele's couple testing was intended to empower couples to initiate and sustain communication around HIV and AIDS. It was also meant to encourage HIV status disclosure and adoption and maintenance of positive health practices.

The idea was that couples testing together would adopt and practise risk reduction strategies and health seeking behaviour as well link with other couples living with HIV for treatment, care, and support.
