In too much use of alcohol Bastwana are just responding to what society has to offer - alcohol. With rapid urbanisation that has swept through the country over the past 20 or so years, Botswana has become one of the fastest growing economies and one of the aspects of a growing economy is being able to provide its citizens with commodities that make their livelihood enjoyable. Due to rapid growth of rural centres, Botswana has seen a mushrooming of liquor outlets.

It would be very strange for people not to make use of those outlets when they hit their areas, more especially that it is fashionable, particularly among the youth to be seen to be a frequenter of a new liquor outlet in a town or village. However, it should be noted that people drink alcohol for various reasons and get drunk in various ways. The amount of alcohol consumption also differs. Due to the addictive nature of alcohol people will always call for more sooner or later.
