Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) has taken a leaf out of Julius Malema’s fashion book by introducing red berets as their new election regalia ahead of the 2014 poll.

 

Many BDP members were seen at the party’s last weekend special congress doning the red beret with a white jack symbol. Among those sporting the famed headgear were party-hopping MPs Botsalo Ntuane of Gaborone Bonnington South and South East South’s Odirile Motlhale as well as Fidelis Molao of Tonota North.  Others were, the chubby BDP Youth League president, Andy Boatile and MacDonald Peloetletse, famed for religious defence of the ruling party radio call-in programmes.

BDP primaries leave a lot to be desired

The BDP as a party known to have ample resources has always held its primaries well in time, but this time around that was not the case. The first leg of the primaries was held last weekend, with the final leg being billed for the coming weekend. This time around, the BDP failed to shine in its primary elections.
