BDP losing its tight grip

Molepolole cannot claim to be a Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) political seedbed in the same way as Serowe is.

The fact, however, is that the BDP has over past nine general elections been ruling the roost in Molepolole. They have at every general election managed to brush the opposition aside. This past record notwithstanding the BDP cannot thump itself on the chest and claim with a swagger that Kweneng - or Molepolole for that matter - bleeds BDP red. The BDP 's political bona fides were put to their severest test when the opposition Botswana National Front( BNF) snatched the two Letlhakeng constituencies. In the 1994 general elections the BNF claimed Mogoditshane constituency. In 2004 the opposition, particularly BNF,  caused significant damage in Kweneng East and West constituencies, the BCP too has for a long time been tormenting the BDP with a lone councillor in the neighbouring Lentsweletau Constuency.

When Kweneng faces such heavy political bombardment from all angles even the Viceroy constituencies in the Molepolole headquarters cannot remain immune from such sustained heavy political artillery.
