Appellant Accuses Magistrate Of Fiddling

FRANCISTOWN: Caiphus Atholang, appealing against sentence for robbery, has accused chief magistrate, Lorraine Makati-Lesang of altering his case record.

The appellant, Caiphus Atholang was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment last year by Makati-Lesang for robbing a cash-in-transit security company of an amount over P108,000 in February 2006 along the Francistown-Orapa road.

Handguns were used to commit the crime. When Justice Modiri Letsididi was set to hear the appeal, Atholang surprised the court when he accused the chief magistrate of underhand tactics. Atholang told the stunned Justice Letsididi that Makati-Lesang has altered his case record.
