A man of great determination

The 34-year-old Zezuru man has not had any formal education, but his literacy levels match that of a university graduate.

The owner of a successful carpentry company, Model Furniture, he says the fact that he did not go to school did not put him off from his determination of becoming literate. Unlike most of his fellow congregants at the Johane Church of God - a Bazezuru religious sect known for not allowing its members to attend school - Maderera decided to teach himself how to read and write without the help of a teacher.
