We Will All Perish Or Flourish

Over the weekend, Botswana joined other countries around the world to celebrate the United Nations Day. The theme for this year's celebrations was "Addressing Climate Change through Environment-friendly Economic Activities."

This is a relevant topic as the issue of climate change is of grim concern. But for many years now, the issue has been discussed at different forums with very little impact on our propensity to - literally and symbolically speaking - poison our wells. Alongside the conferences where alarming facts of our degeneration have been presented, we, the peoples of the world, have refused to heed the call to look after Planet Earth so she may continue to be the wellspring of our health and prosperity.

In our collective greed, what is supposedly the finest of God's creatures has sought to destroy its habitat and home of other species by raping the Earth and polluting the cosmos in pursuit of egocentric grandeur. In the process, we have maimed and killed one another with ever-increasing efficiency and numbers and annihilated other flora and fauna to the point where our own annihilation is a reality. Yet we press on in the self-destructing path!
