We welcome BDC investments

Government's main investment body, Botswana Development Corporation (BDC) has announced ambitious plans to embark on major ventures geared towards economic diversification.

Reports indicate that the BDC will invest in a glass manufacturing plant in Palapye. The plant will rely on locally sourced raw materials such as silica and soda ash deposits. This obviously shows that we are making efforts to derive maximum benefit from all the resources available in the country.

Most importantly this project will create the much-needed employment opportunities for Batswana. Projections show that once the plant is in full swing, it will employ 350 to 400 people in the long term. At a time when the economy is reeling from recession, jobs have contracted and any venture that promises to create employment is more than welcome.
