We Need Legislation On The Control Of Dog Breeds In Botswana

In this edition of The Monitor columnist Sandy Grant recalls the night a fellow Odi resident was mauled by five pit bulls and later died.

It is not a rare incident, as quite recently a Philipino woman in Gaborone was also mauled to death by her own dogs, while a maid also met the same fate not so long ago at the hands of her master's dogs, also in Gaborone.

While the freedom to own a breed of your own choice gives a sense of pride and joy to every dog lover, such incidents as highlighted above with their grave consequences are a cause of concern and need the powers that be to go back to the drawing board.
