We Have suffered long enough

By the end of this week, the public service strike will be nearly a month old. It seems like when it started, government did not anticipate that it will drag on for this long.

As a result, many sectors have been affected and it is the ordinary man who is suffering. At the beginning, government officials led the general public to believe that all was well and there was no need to panic because the strike was not having any effect on the delivery of services.  It was only a matter of days when it became apparent that public service delivery was highly affected.  Children went to school and there were no teachers to teach them.  It is a well-known fact that school children cannot learn on their own.  They need a teacher to do their school work.  To try to justify its ineptitude, government, through its media, stage-managed interviews with learners to say they are not affected by the strike.  We know this is not the case.

The health sector has been severely affected as well.  With doctors from Princess Marina Hospital joining the strike, it became clear that things took a turn for the worse.  This strike did not only affect Marina Hospital.
