We cannot die in the silence of their noise

Many of us might not have written such letters but we are in complete agreement that this type of public nuisance has reached intolerable levels. It all starts with the incessant honking of a combi communicating with anything that walks along the road. This is not just an ordinary hooter. These vehicles are fitted with the state-of-the-art hooters with various sound-amplifying gadgets. The result is that the sound is not only loud, but annoyingly so - and it is honked every time the combi driver blinks.
It seems these drivers have simply forgotten the purpose of a hooter. On our roads a hooter is no longer used to warn pedestrians of a traffic danger but merely to greet and hail prospective passengers. Given the amount of hooter-abuse on our roads, very soon we will witness road atrocities owing to this abuse. Over-use of the hooter is a great inconvenience to other motorists and pedestrians and people living within a traffic environment.
It underscores the indispensable role women play in our society, particularly in building strong households and nurturing families.
