We can save more lives on holidays

The Easter holidays have come and gone with thousands of people having travelled to different destinations during that period. Pilgrimages dominated the roads, while fun lovers also travelled in high volumes to leisure and entertainment spots.

According to a recent Botswana Police Service report, five people died during the Easter holidays, among them two pedestrians. The report indicated that the number of recorded accidents rose from 197 in 2015 to 210 this year, attributed to the increased vehicle population on our roads.

It is true that the number of vehicles has gone up, yet many of our roads remain as they were about a decade ago.
