We Can Eliminate Malaria

Malaria is one of the major diseases that kill a lot of people in Africa, Botswana included. This is despite programmes countries have put in place to vaccinate children against the disease. Most affected people are mostly from developing countries.

Africa spends about P24 million on malaria interventions every year. The United Nations, through the UNICEF, has embarked on a programme targeting Asia and Africa to vaccinate children against malaria.

The programme seems to be succeeding as more children have been vaccinated against the disease. This is good news because if more children are protected, more lives will be saved. Botswana is among countries which are winning the fight against malaria. The latest statistics indictates a significant drop in the number of cases reported in the last one year. Whereas 6,580 cases were reported as at April this year, 9, 242 cases were reported in March last year. This is good news.
