We applaud the MoH

It is with great relief to note that the Ministry of Health has been able to restore order in the health facilities that have not had Alluvia, a drug prescribed for some patients on antiretroviral drugs.

In the last four weeks there was apprehension about what was going to happen to those people on this drug because it is taken by a group of patients who are referral. We applaud the ministry for working around the clock to make sure that the supply of the drug is restored. It is good that the ministry did not waste time with a company that was initially given the tender but failed to deliver on time.

It is good that the ministry acted swiftly and gave the tender to another company that was able to deliver as expected. It is a well-known fact that patients on drugs cannot afford to miss taking their tablets as this compromises their health such that their bodies could become resistant to the drugs. We hope the ministry was able to get enough supplies for all those that need the drug. We can only encourage the ministry not to wait on companies that are given the tenders to supply until it is too late.
