Violence should not be condoned in our football

Football is the most loved sport in this country and in the world and no governing authority should allow hooligans to masquerade as football fans to tarnish the good image of the game.
When football hooliganism was at its peak in the 80s and 90s in Europe, particularly in England, the authorities took bold decisions to nip the cancer in the bud before it got out of hand. Measures put in place included identifying the real culprits, imposing heavy penalties against them and the teams they supported, as well as putting the responsibility of supporters’ unruly behaviour on the shoulders of their teams.
It underscores the indispensable role women play in our society, particularly in building strong households and nurturing families.
