The Zimbabwe project should not be abandoned

Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai was in the United States last week to canvass for support, financial and otherwise, for the government of national unity in his country.

Although we find it ironic that the man who actively fought for the isolation of Zimbabwe is now the one canvassing for its rescue, we salute Tsvangirai for this practical approach and dedication after joining the GNU.

He deserves credit for directing his energies to the economic re-construction of his country when he had no hand in its destruction. Thankfully, Tsvangirai's efforts are beginning to bear fruit, for American President Barack Obama has pledged $73 million.
