In Molepolole, people were condemned for 'boycotting' a kgotla meeting where an NGO presented its research findings on the abuse of children in the village.  In Tutume, the youth were nowhere to be found when Bopaganang Basha Youth Centre launched its branch there.  The Molepolole function was reportedly dominated by guidance and counselling teachers from primary schools, pupils and police officers, while in Tutume, the youth were elsewhere during the launch.  We call upon Batswana to give such events the priority they deserve.  The youth and children are the future of any country and anything to do with them must be important.

In Molepolole, the event was about abuse of children highlighted by defilement and neglect.  After murder, perhaps the next most serious crime against the person is sexual violation, especially rape and defilement.  And sexual violation was one ofthe  issues at the Molepolole Kgotla.
