The Japanese need our help

Some families are still trying to locate their loved ones who could be buried in the maelstrom of the massive landslides resulting from the seismic movement of the earth deep in the sea miles from Japan's eastern seaboard where tsunami hit. If it is too much for us to imagine far away here, the havoc and psychological trauma of this must be too much to bear for the survivors. For it is nothing short of a scourge on an apocalyptic scale come upon an unsuspecting people.
But we are filled with hope that the rest of humanity will come to the aid of the Japanese in their hour of need. Already, about 100 countries have pledged various forms of assistance ranging from blankets and water to sniffer-dogs and evacuation equipment. This is commendable because we are all one world. The Japanese are also well known around the world - particularly in Africa - for their generosity. News of financial grants and soft loans in development assistance from Japan are common in newspapers throughout the continent.
It underscores the indispensable role women play in our society, particularly in building strong households and nurturing families. The recognition of women as the bedrock of our communities is not just a sentiment; it's a call to action for all women to stand together and support each other in their endeavours.The society's aim to instil essential principles and knowledge for national development is crucial.
