The BNF leaders must show maturity

Regrettably, the Botswana National Front (BNF) is a party of internal unrest.

The history of the party is replete with factional fissures, which have led to break-aways. The state of affairs at the BNF has made irreparable damage to the opposition as a viable alternative to the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).

A democracy ceases to be so when a viable alternative does not exist. In this way therefore, it is difficult to argue that Botswana is a successful democracy. While we think the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) has maintained a level of peace and order to give Batswana reason for belief in the opposition, it is our considered view that a divided BNF is damaging to this country's political standing.   It is only with a peaceful and vibrant BNF that the opposition can give BDP reasonable competition at the polls.
