Last Sunday the nation celebrated its 41st anniversary of Independence. It was a glamorous event spearheaded by the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) as well as other government organs at the National Stadium in Gaborone.

At the various wards in every village and town, people ate and drank as government contributed funds to enable the nation to celebrate Boipuso with great pomp.

President Mogae gave an inspirational message on national television as well, narrating how we, as a nation, have progressed from an impoverished society to a more accomplished and developed nation. We cannot dispute the huge figures of educated Batswana, which the president put at almost 90 percent, adding that this year alone 35, 000 Batswana are studying at various colleges and universities, courtesy of government scholarships.
