Reports say that last weekend, the University of Botswana (UB) Freshers' Ball was a catalyst for assault (some say rape), theft, robbery and destruction of property. Once again, it is a case of denials, buck-passing and counter-accusations by the parties concerned.
The UB Student Representative Council (SRC), through its secretary general, Kgotso Kennekae, puts the blame on the university security and police for not being up to the job.
