Save us the waffling, general!

One of the most frustrating things about Parliament is that at times some of the contributions made by our parliamentarians are not as informed as they should be.

The public expects that all MPs will, at the very least, make an effort to inform themselves about issues that they discuss in the national assembly. No one is asking parliamentarians to be experts in all the pieces of legislation that come before them because that is humanly impossible.

What is possible though - and we expect our MPs to do that - is to make a deliberate effort to enquire on what the legislation seeks to do and place this against national principles and aspirations in order to make a dispassionate and helpful discussion.
