Sanity Must Prevail Among Bakwena

Like dormant volcanoes that often take their victims by surprise, the Bakwena chieftainship disputes keep on erupting when least expected. Like fast-flowing molten lava, old wounds and conflicts are opened between the royal house and their protagonists, the Ntlo-e-dibe Ward. The issue has resurfaced, this time around with the Ntlo-e-dibe Ward claiming they want to be installed as the new royals.

The reason given by the Ntlo-e-dibe Ward is that the Bakwena kgosi has chosen his enemy as his right hand man. People should pause and let sanity prevail. But even if we may be far from the day-to-day happenings in Molepolole, surely it does not require a rocket scientist to know that the one and only person best positioned to determine who is his friend or foe, is the kgosi himself. Surely, in his right mind, the Bakwena kgosi must have seen something valuable in his choice of deputy.

Whether his choice is bad or otherwise should not be anyone's concern. Surely the kgosi must have been informed by good judgement in appointing his new deputy. History shows that the man he appointed has for decades played the role of a father as he nursed him up and watched him grow as an educated and responsible man until he took over the royal robes.
