Resolve Examiners' Grievances

Trouble is brewing between the Botswana Secondary Teachers' Union (BOSETU) and the Botswana Examinations Council over conditions of service during the marking of the exams.

From the meeting of teachers called by BOSETU in Gaborone last week, this is not a new matter. It was brought to the attention of the relevant authorities long ago, but because nothing concrete came out of deliberations with the authorities, the teachers voted to boycott the marking of this year's exams.

However, in consideration of the wider implications of a boycott and because they are still hoping for a better outcome, the teachers have decided to postpone the boycott.
