As a major global player and the only superpower, the United States of America attracts the attention of the world because her foreign policy, economic and political policies has a huge influence on the global community. The world is not just a disaffected by-stander when it comes to American politics. Often the global community takes a keen interest in American affairs. This year's primaries have captivated many for a host of other reasons. The global markets have been shaken to the extent that there have been fears of a global recession. Most importantly, the U.S primaries come during a debilitating war in Iraq which has polarised the world even further. The moral leadership of the United States after the U.S and Britain cobbled up motley crew styled as a coalition of the willing invaded Iraq, thus greatly undermining global unity.
There is a great possibility that the war in Iraq squandered a great opportunity to galvanise the forces of goodwill to stem the tide against global terrorism.
