Public must trust health system

In the recent past there have been several cases in which patients claimed that they have been given wrong HIV diagnosis.

In other instances other patients even claimed that they have been prescribed the wrong medication. Many of these remain allegations although in some instances hospital authorities owned up and moved in quickly to help the situation before it deteriorated.

Currently, there is an ongoing case in which Kgakgamatso Sekgabetlela is suing government for half a million Pula on account of a false HIV diagnosis. Sekgabetlela is represented by the Botswana Network on Ethics, Law and HIV/AIDS (BONELA). In her affidavit she claims that the wrong diagnosis nearly wrecked her marriage as her spouse accused her of infidelity.
