Parly has a lot of work to do

Committees of the National Assembly continue to unearth shocking dealings at State owned enterprises, otherwise known as parastatals.

Among the many shocking revelations to the Committee on Statutory Bodies, is that of a Permanent Secretary who signed an P88 million deal without advertisement for tender nor bothered to engage other stakeholders on the matter. This week, the committee got to learn about a CEO  who recruited staff without advertisements or involving the board. He even conducted the interviews on his own and resolved to hire his preferred candidates, at salaries of his choice.

As the son of the founding President, there was a lot of hope that he would eradicate corruption, create jobs, and uphold a lot of our national values. We cannot boldly say he is still that man.
