Mugabe's propaganda machine

Zimbabwe's predominately state-run media has unleashed a propaganda war against their perceived enemies.

Robert Mugabe's vitriolic propaganda net that until recently was mainly targeted at ZANU-PF opponents that included the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), the West, civil society and religious organisations, has now been cast wider to catch neighbouring countries such as Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania, and Nigeria in West Africa.

The government-controlled mouthpiece The Herald, unashamedly fabricated information that the envoys of the above mentioned governments apologised to Mugabe and even praised the aging dictator. Of course, having written extensively over the years on the Mugabe regime's institutionalised misrepresentations, we were not surprised about their latest offensive on Botswana, particularly on our Minister of Foreign Affairs Phandu Skelemani.
