How warming it was to see the likes of Cresta (contributing P200 000), FNB (P40,000), as well as individuals donating cattle and other items of value that were auctioned at the dinner for cash. For a country such as ours, with tens of thousands of masiela (orphans and vulnerable children), indeed the significance of organisations like Masiela Trust cannot be over emphasised.
The success story of Masiela Trust Fund is testimony that though cases of NGO's abusing funds are rampant, we still have organisations that can be trusted and relied upon by us all. If all the other NGO's could benchmark on Masiela, then the future of vulnerable groups would be in safe hands. Organisations like Masiela Trust provides opportunities for people who have hearts to extend a helping hand to their fellow countrymen. At individual level any resident or citizen of Botswana can make a donation of whatever amount, with the full confidence that the funds always reach their intended recipients. At individual level we can help Masiela Trust achieve their goal by playing our roles of donating funds, however little, allowing the Trust to reach the needy on our behalf.
It underscores the indispensable role women play in our society, particularly in building strong households and nurturing families.
