Make politics attractive for the sake of the country

As political parties gather for their congresses, it is important for their members to introspect on their specific responsibility to the country.

In the last few years, we have seen upheavals within the major parties in the country.  This has caused many Batswana to develop a negative view of politics and political activism.  The reality of our current political despondency is a result of a degeneration of debate and non-acceptance of divergent views within our political organisations.  This country is only as good as the parties in its political landscape.  The current state where people find political activism to be a tedious process could partly be blamed on not so much the leadership of the parties but rather the general membership. Most importantly, members of the Botswana Democratic Party have an immense responsibility to this country for it is their party that is in government. The BDP has a history of debate where divergent views were ventilated.Indeed the members held power over the leadership that they had, and subsequently the leadership this country had.
