Khama's intoxicating ruse

Just what is wrong with this government? Why is President Ian Khama's administration behaving like a bunch of rogues?

As we understand it, powerful figures in Government have instructed the official media to bombard the public with reports on alcohol. The instruction does not end there: nay, it includes suggestions on how these reports should be couched and skewed, concentrating on the bad effects of alcohol.

Government has always claimed that its two radio channels and Botswana Television were public broadcasters and that the Daily News was not a government mouthpiece. If any Motswana was gullible enough to buy into the humbug that government-owned media serves the public, this is the time to get a reality check.
