Khama should lead by example

Just when we were getting used to President Ian Khama as a man of expensive tastes, out comes the news that we ain't seen nothin' yet.

When he took over in 2008, he acquired a P1 million caravan, with his sidekick VP  Mompati Merafhe buttressing the procurement as a bare necessity for Khama's trips.

Today, four years after his installation, we have yet to see the caravan in use; unless, of course, the President takes it where Batswana do not go. In addition to the caravan, Khama has spent close to P10 million refurbishing State House to suit his style of official accommodation. When Batswana sought an explanation, the answer came that their President should not live in a bat-infested hovel that presented a health hazard.
