Implications of Bulela Ditswe

Last Saturday, the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) held its primary elections in Botswana north of Dibete.

Before the elections were finally held, the BDP had postponed them in order to verify names on the voters roll. This postponement was viewed in some quarters as an indication that all was not well at the BDP.

Some BDP stalwarts - the Minister Tshekedi Khama, for example - even reported their opponents to the central committee, alleging violation of election rules that merited their disqualification.
