Good news in the financial sector

The world economy has been hit by a severe bout of economic stagnation whose end we cannot predict. Already many major businesses in the world have folded-up. Economies have been ruined and unless some stability is established soon, we fear for the worst.

However, even under these difficult circumstances, there have been some silver patches on the horizon even though they have been few and far between. In Botswana, the bank lending rate has fallen significantly to the point that it is nearer to one-digit unlike the past few years when it was almost hitting the 20 percent mark. The Bank of Botswana has dropped lending rates and commercial banks have as a consequence lowered theirs.

As a result, the public has been accessing loans at a favourable lending rate of 13 percent interest, which by far is the best in recent times.
