Gaolathe's development budget laudable

Finance minister, Baledzi Gaolathe yesterday revealed a budget that shows confident leadership and a concern for the more marginalised members of this society.

Even though there are a number of concerns, overall, Gaolathe seems willing to offer leadership at a time when the nation is wondering where salvation will come from.

It is important to note that Gaolathe's budget remains a proposal, hamstrung for now - as with all other proposals - by the challenges of future implementation. In other words, Gaolathe's budget proposal may sound audacious and confident, but we should remember that often what looks excellent on paper can be rendered hopeless by lack of indecisive application.
