Fine-tuned awards promise sweet melodies

The apparent improvements to the organisation of the Botswana Music Awards suggest that the artistes, music lovers and other stakeholders will have something worthwhile to look forward to when the occasion is finally staged in December.

Quiet apart from generous sponsorship from large organisations such as Mascom, who have doled out P250, 000, Orange, Air Botswana and Kgalagadi Breweries, the leadership of the Botswana Musicians Union appears to have taken the suggestions of all stakeholders on board.

There have been regular consultations culminating in the final one held at the Gaborone Civic Centre on October 4, 2007. Notwithstanding a major disaster, it would appear that BOMU has done as much as any organisation could do to avert any misfortunes or irregularities that might have occurred at the first awards of this magnitude held last year.
