Far too much English!

A State of the Nation address is always an important event as it gives an assessment of the nation's progress and its potential.

But the one President Mogae delivered on Monday was special as it signalled the end of an era.

There was a lot of anticipation for the speech. Everybody wanted to hear what the President's diagnosis of the country's challenges and opportunities were. The speech itself did not disappoint; it covered almost all the major sectors of the economy and public life. It was broadcast live on public television and the national radio station, and there is no doubt newspapers like Mmegi will, during the course of the month, report on it.
