EPAs should benefit everyone

The negotiations on the Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) between the European Union and Africa, Caribbean and Pacific Countries (ACP) regions are nearing completion.

For starters, under the EPAs, goods moving between the six ACP regions and the EU will be duty-free under a reciprocal arrangement that will replace the current preferential trade system.

However, what we gather from the civil society organisations monitoring the talks is that ACP countries will not necessarily benefit from the arrangement, as the EU wants Africa to believe.
