Dictatorship creeping in

It is no longer a rumour, the political differences between the two opposing factions in the BDP have claimed their first casuality.

Secretary General Gomolemo Motswaledi has been suspended which effectively means he is no longer BDP Secretary General and the party's Gaborone Central parliamentary candidate.

With just about two months before the general election the BDP candidate in Gaborone Central has been removed and BDP voters are scuttling around for a candidate. This seems to be a new trend with Botswana's major parties. If one thought the BNF were crazy to kick out their parliamentary candidate at the Gaborone West South constituency - Robert Molefhabangwe - the BDP action ranks higher in the crazy joker category. The message in our political parties is that the bigger the party the little tolerance they have to accommodate divergent opinions.
