BDC rot: Should it have come to this?

Recent events in Parliament should make believers of our parliamentary system both happy and sad.

Last week, South East South Member of Parliament (MP) Odirile Motlhale brought a motion calling on the House to institute a select committee to probe allegations of corruption at Botswana Development Corporation (BDC).

We salute Motlhale because he has demonstrated that before an MP comes to the House to table such a motion, he must do his or her homework. His research into the rot and clear presentation of his case helped other MPs to make a decision on the matter - to vote for or against the motion.
