Another milestone

Another milestone in the annals of our country will be reached today. For the 10th time since the birth of the nation state of Botswana, we are going to the polls.

We have held elections without fail every five years since 1965. This is an achievement we should be proud of and celebrate because not many nations have remained true to the dictates of their constitutions, where they have such guiding documents. We have just witnessed yet another peaceful election campaign that ended yesterday and we have no reason to doubt that as we stay in the queues today, patience, tolerance and mutual respect will be the order of the day.

And go out to vote we all must; in the might and force of our unprecedented numbers as registered by the Independent Electoral Commission. It is incumbent upon each one of us to stay in those lines until the purpose is concluded in that little cubicle of great import.
