A political milestone

This is a huge milestone for Botswana politics. For the last 46 years the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) has won all the general elections. For other people, the BDP's landslide victories were a result of a fragmented opposition.
The true picture has always been that if people who vote for opposition parties during elections are put together in some areas, they far outnumber those of the BDP. But because opposition parties are fragmented, this obviously gives advantage to the BDP.
It underscores the indispensable role women play in our society, particularly in building strong households and nurturing families.
