Zim approves Botswana credit facility

The Zimbabwean government this week approved the P500-million credit facility that Botswana is extending to that woebegone country.

Zimbabwe's pro-government newspaper, the Herald, reported that the House had approved the Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (BIPPA) that seeks to promote and protect investment between the two countries.

Other BIPPAs approved are with India and Iran. Botswana, which has already ratified the agreement, has been waiting for Zimbabwe to do the same before it releases the money.In June, the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, Kelapile Ndobano, told a Botswana Confederation of Commerce, Industry and Manpower (BOCCIM) conference,that the government was ready for the implementation of the facility.
