Youths are prone to unemployment - Thamane

FRANCISTOWN: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) says entrepreneurship can rescue many youths from unemployment.

Speaking at the official opening of the BOCCIM-sponsored Northern Youth Expo, Thabo Thamane said according to the United Nations, 60 percent of Africa's population is made up of youths and about 36.6 percent of them contribute to the workforce.

Thamane said the population of young people was growing rapidly, creating a more exigent need for employment creation. The unemployment rate among the youth in Africa stood at 12.6 percent in 2010, which translated into approximately 78 million young unemployed people.
