Youth grant turns entrepreneur's dreams into reality

FRANCISTOWN: Growing up, Ditiro Lekobe always had one thing in mind- to one day become an entrepreneur of repute.

Today the 31-year old Matsiloje-born lad is living his dream as the proud owner of Dhydo Tyre Services, a business he established towards the end of 2009.  The business is located in Francistown at Area W location.The business was funded by the Ministry of Sports Youth and Culture through its youth fund wing to the tune of P70 000. Dhydo Tyre Services specialises in selling imported tyres from Germany. Other services offered by the business include patching tyres as well as wheel balancing of small vehicles.

"I established this business after realising that most people in the city and surroundings cannot afford new tyres offered by big established tyre dealerships," he said."I was attached at the Francistown Tyre Service in the middle of 2009 for a month to learn the tricks of the tyre industry before I established my business towards the end of 2009. "A friend of mine who sells imported tyres in Gaborone helped me establish a network with firms that sell second hand tyres in Germany. "I order the tyres from Germany and collect them in Gaborone," says the 31-year old who completed his Form Five at Botlhale Unified Secondary School in Mahalapye in 1999.
