Wilderness profits up, posts maiden dividend

Profits of safari company Wilderness Holdings jumped by over 70 percent for the financial year ending February 28, leading to the firm declaring its maiden dividend.

Although the company's operating profit was down 26 percent to P50.5 million for the period, Wilderness' net profit rose 73 percent to P92.1 million, mostly due to a share of an associate company's profit that increased tremendously during the year.  Said CEO Andy Payne in Gaborone this week:

"The profit on sale of business of P29 million results from the Duba Plains transaction as announced last year.
