US Embassy aims to boost entrepreneurship

The US Embassy will hold a series of workshops on business development and trade competitiveness for women and young entrepreneurs in Gaborone this week.

A statement from the embassy says the workshop series, which will start today and end on Friday, will focus on starting a business, management, leadership and competitiveness.   The US Embassy is collaborating with the Department of Women's Affairs, the Department of Youth and Culture, the Local Enterprise Authority, the University of Botswana, ABM College, Botswana College of Agriculture, Botswana Accountancy College and The Business Place in the workshop series.

The statement says the workshops will be led by successful American entrepreneur, Dr Sharon T. Freeman, who is also is a champion of social change and an innovative business development strategist. A brief biography supplied by the embassy says for nearly three decades, Freeman has distinguished herself as a critical thinker, renowned researcher and social scientist who has built strong relationships with leaders across the world. She advises the American and other governments around the world, as well as development institutions, firms and organisations.
