Training levy vital to economy -BOTA

Botswana Training Authority (BOTA) chief executive officer Abel Modungwa has said that the vocational training levy is designed to create a pool of skills and make employees to be more competitive.

He said skilled employees will make the national economy more competitive especially because  customer service and satisfaction remains a public concern. He was speaking at a consultative event on the levy between employers and other stakeholders last week.

Modungwa stressed that employers should firmly appreciate how the vocational training levy affects stakeholders and how they could benefit from it. He said that the scheme has been set by the industry and remained subject to review and its fundamental purpose is to encourage companies or industry to train staff for national socio-economic benefit.
