Tourism to rake in P3.1bn for 2011

Botswana's travel and tourism sector is expected to earn P3.1 billion this year, contributing 2.8 percent of forecast GDP, researchers at the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) have said.

It is expected that the industry will be buoyed by continuing global economic recovery, which is adding thebes in foreign and local tourists' pockets, while the country's aviation sector will be boosted by completion of the expansion of Sir Seretse Khama International Airport.

In addition, the industry will be enhanced by the establishment of new hotels and shopping malls, among them the Phakalane Golf Estate Hotel Resort and Masa Towers at Gaborone's emerging Central Business District.
