MAHALAPYE: The Minister of Environment Wildlife and Tourism Tshekedi Khama has assured that government prioritises the tourism sector as a critical contributor to the economy.

Speaking during the official opening of Cresta Marakanelo Mahalapye Hotel recently, Khama said hospitality is not a stand alone business as it revolves around airlines, bus companies, car hire firms, festivals and events.

"A magnificent building of this calibre calls for increased effort in the provision of outstanding service and a hospitable attitude towards customers," he said. "Our mandate as the industry is to ensure that all visitors, both from within and outside, enjoy consistent high standards of service from the entire hospitality and tourism industry as a whole". He commended Cresta for expanding its geographical footprint within the country.  "The presence of Cresta Marakanelo in Zambia is an indication of a micro approach to business. Cresta Marakanelo has sharpened its hospitality modus operandi and is bold enough to endeavour to enter the international arena," said Khama.
